My company's filtering system blocked the entire website, categorizing it as "phishing".

(Coding is done in C, following MISRA rules and some internal additional standards. This includes the generated code - this one may not be highly optimized every time. The rest of the SW I could say is pretty much OK optimization wise. Assa

Yeah, so much for the "reverse engineering" operation. The guy didn't even take the time to research what the A2L is, but he was quick to throw accusations around [1]. There's nothing like some quick internet exposure. [

We (at another supplier) work with 2 types of LUT's: index and interpolation. The "index" ones will return, indeed, only values calibrated by the car maker or the subsystem supplier and nothing else. Interpolation lookup tabl

>At the moment city centres get clogged by cars because public transport in the suburbs is horrible. But if you can get a car to a transport hub and then commute into the centre, I think a lot of people would prefer that to being stuck i

While there are lots of materials (studies, books, etc.) to back the article, what backs your claims about the train costs?

Not sure that's a real solution. They will use that land to do something else, to fill another need, as long as they can get their hand on it, cheaply.

You make all kind of assumptions about the sophistication behind and engine ECU. It's one of the most complex ECU's in the car. Just as car companies may just sell cars, Dell or Apple just sell computers. Why not provide the sourc

Can't wait to see a forum similar to XDA-developer where custom ROM's for every car will be made available and all the footnotes saying "use at your own risk" and the first 1000 people which, instead of bricking their sh

True, maybe a little bit more openness would not hurt nobody. Probably would help people trust automakers more and not go nuts when a scandal goes live like the VW. Never seen any banks open their strategy to the public after so many of the

How do you know for sure the code you review really runs on the voting machine on the poll date? How do you really know? You don't. You trust some regulators who inspect the machine. Then let the regulators check the cars too. I imagin

Many SW projects don't get the same hate for doing the exact same things. Still, I would like to know in what way do you want the source exposed? Just the code files? How is anybody going to judge what's a bug? The usual process i

And you know that how? Magic sense? The code is full of implemented proprietary strategies. Many technical patents find their implementation in there. Who's mad to give up the source code for models researched after investing millions

Why only Tesla has OTA? Some people really think nobody in the industry ever thought of that since the internet was born? Musk is doing a nice publicity stunt. Tesla sold, what?.... 30000 cars all time? All models above $50000? So addressin

No problem for that. Are you ready to pay to have that? Because stuff like that does not come cheap. Quite sure we can find some numbers on the Internet, probably you are not the first people in the world to think of implementing aerospace

What makes you believe in-house SW is more reliable? Anecdotal or not, I know people who worked for both a X's (German car maker, not VW) supplier and X themselves in SW engineering and he told me the supplier was on a totally another

The only people who will understand that code (assuming is not just generated code) will be people from competitors... maybe. People outside the business will have no clue. It will be a continuous source of false alarms. Will be really hard

They don't use the same supplier for all models. Sometimes the diesel variant can have a different supplier for the ECU (Engine Control Unit) than the gasoline variant of the same model. They don't trust the entire production on
