Thank you. I will keep this in mind as I learn more about development.

No, I did not get it. I think this is because, as I said, I just recently started learning to program. I started in January, but I do not commit 100% of my time to it, as I have a full time job that deals with something completely different

I'm a professional writer; i.e., I get paid to write. I didn't study journalism but I was in an interdisciplinary programme that consisted of literature, history, and language (somewhat of a modern day philology degree) in Canada. I've just

I think you need to clarify some things. Do you mean 'rock songs' as in Jimmy Preston's Rock the Joint? Or do you mean 'rock songs' as in rhythm and blues/'black music'/music made by black people? If you mean--well, there is no other way of

I wrote a reply but was using this HN app for the iPhone and, of course, it didn't go through. We disagree on a couple of contentious issues, which is fine :) I'll try to re-cap very briefly (Argh! No time for long, deep conversations, anym

Hm. There is quite a bit of misinformation (I like to think it was done unintentionally) that your comment caused when people replied to you. The biggest one being that the US 'invented' 'electronic dance music'. I can sit here and write an

Really? When Dennis Ritchie died, I saw someone post the following: main() { printf("hello, afterworld\n"); } There are more here: http://hastac.org/blogs/earksiinni/2011/10/13/curious-collec... Does poetry itself not mean not being held

Extremely well put. If we wanted to give it a name, as a point of reference to research this more, I'd say it boils down to "ethics".

I apologize for this (my) post because it adds no real value to this topic. But I just have to say, as a male, I am disgusted when guys talk like this in a professional environment. I do not know anything about the person who said it or the

Oh, my apologies. I was too excited and signed up quickly without reading it. Now that I have, it more or less answers my question: "You can meet weekly to discuss each Code Year lesson or whenever you’d like.". Thanks, anyway! (:

Wow! I just found out about Codecademy and immediately signed up! It looks pretty cool! I basically have no programming experience, only a tiny bit. Do you know what the requirements are to attend the meeting? Or what it'll be about? Thanks

Yes, I also thank you. A digression coming up! You've been warned! I have a BA from a pretty highly ranked university in Canada, and excelled in academics. However, I always thought it was a breeze for anybody to do really well in. I always

Thanks for the tips. I ended up installing Python 2.7, gedit, and then I had to edit a path field to load Python from the terminal. I've just started Learn Python the Hard Way by Allen B. Downey and I really like the tone he uses, actually.

Sorry, I don't mean to get off-topic, but I want to start learning Python, but I'm on a Windows machine. Should I work on Linux instead? Because I fins most of the help offered is Linux-based. Thank you! (:
