The best I have found for advanced javascript to be is "Secrets of the Javascript Ninja"[1] by John Resig and Bear Bibeault. Highly recommended. Currently I am reading "Javascript web applications"[2] by Alex MacCaw and it seems to be well

I get 7 days paid holiday here in Taiwan. and additional 1 week as a part of Chinese new year. 2 weeks/year is twice better to me.

Zed himself recommends Django book as the Next Steps[1] at the end of LPTHW. If he wants to dig deep into Python Dive into Python [2] would be a great book to start working on next. For other language I would recommend some static type lang

Those numbers are pretty much spot on. I have lived 5 years in taiwan and most of it in Taoyuan county (jhongli/yangmei) and my living costs were in 10~14k NT$ range.
