Get a laptop that is sold with Linux. Don't expect Linux to work with literally everything. Drivers. If you get a modern xps or thinkpad it'll work just fine. But your mom's acer laptop she got from Costco. Maybe not :P

I've had no problems with Nvidia drivers. Running an RTX 3090, doing inferences on stable diffusion and can also fire up steam and play elden ring online Though, you do need to know how to use a computer to set things up properly.

Yep. Engineering talent increase due to exposure is a sigmoid curve that tops out after 1-2 years. There are social paper cuts that make you _wiser_, but not a more effective engineer in terms of "things shipped" and "problem

Precisely. The best part about it (linux distros) is that you can actually fix your issues, while with windows/apple you have to suffer until you get a bug fix, since you don't control the software that runs on your computer

I love arch linux. It just works. Even with video games. Steam deck is based on it. Linux really did win desktops. Running on arch for 3 years now.
