If you're leaving the community anyway, does it matter if you violate the CoC through being honest about your opinions?

Maybe those two versions mean the same thing in whatever idea vector space ChatGPT operates in, but ChatGPT's version is missing a lot. It didn't keep your "half the time, more than half the energy" bit, which I liked.

Isn't that what the comment you're replying to is saying? Maybe they should've been less subtle.

Oh, I guess I never even considered doing that for some reason. If you just run "pip install" doesn't literally tell you to use the --user flag or virtualenv? I guess it's probably an easy mistake to make.

What? Why? How? I always use the system Python plus virtualenv and that works fine, it's certainly never broken my system... I don't even know by what mechanism that breakage would happen.

Maybe one day AI will allow completely unskilled laypeople, ignorant of software, to build and deploy software end to end with no involvement from any software engineers, testers, SREs, anything. That would be the power loom of our time - t

In the past, when tools that significantly increased developer productivity emerged, like higher level languages (C, Java, Python), better IDEs, or better access to help (e.g. StackOverflow), the demand for more software has outpaced any de

What I mean is that their drive to monetize has actually produced a lot of revenue, i.e. was a success. People were predicting some kind of mass migration away from the now paid Docker products and it didn't happen. The pressure to mon

I think the quote was paraphrased to make it more offensive than it really was originally. Originally the quote was about sloppy thinking, not "weak" minds. You're right that weak isn't a great word to use here. Maybe yo

If C makes developers 5-50x more effective compared to writing assembly, then you just need two devs instead of a team of 10-100. Obviously that didn't happen. And people actually made predictions like that once upon a time. As softwar

Not correct, that post was about San Francisco only. The Bay Area is much, much larger, and has a density of ~1000 per sq mi. If the entire Bay Area were as dense as SF (not even close), that would be a megacity dwarfing NYC and Tokyo sever
