What is the other meaning of "Root your docker host" which is disambiguated by adding "for fun and profit"?

Stationery means more than just paper. I don't think there are any good synonyms for stationery, it's the only word with that exact meaning. Same problem when someone wants to substitute "login" for "authenticate&qu

Really? I would value my life much more than that. I think how the question is phrased really matters. How much do you value your life? Or how much would someone have to pay you to kill yourself? Are these even different questions?

Yeah, absolutely. My point is that Option itself doesn't give you this API and to make an unsafe version, you have to explicitly write it. Including UB in easy to misuse places is totally unnecessary and a footgun which really does cau

You aren't mistaken. I should've written "runtime overhead" - my point is that there is no runtime performance penalty for getting rid of the UB in the Option API. An equivalent API with no UB is just strictly better.

The point is that Option in Rust doesn't have undefined behavior in any case, even if the values aren't known at compile time. Exhaustiveness is always checked at compile time, unlike C++ where operator* offers an escape hatch whe

The people criticizing std::optional are doing a very poor job. Here's the big issue: unchecked access to std::optional with operator* has undefined behavior when there's no value. This is unforgivably bad design since you can enf

I think a lot of people are anti rebase in general, but doing that on your own is fine IMO. I have a different issue. The issue with is with rebasing multiple commits onto master instead of merging - the intermediate commits were never code

Not true. The differences don't have to be that large. If one person consistently runs 0.1s faster than everyone else, they can win 100x the races of the next best person without being 100x better. Nobel prizes, like running races, are

Faith can stop you asking the question of why God exists rather than nothing, but it can't actually answer that question.
