I've developed myself a minimal alternative at https://meetup.events when I was not allowed to run my Elm Study Group at meetup.com. It doesn't even have means to create events yet, but if you're interested in dev

Yes, frustration of people going through previous versions is definitely a thing! Let's recall not only the infamous drop of JS FFI (for Ports), but also things like ditching custom operators. Let's see how >0.19 will go.

Why exactly? Elm 0.19 is out on August 2018, and the only thing that's expected is 0.19.1 which barely changes anything (doesn't break any api). Seems like 0.19 is quite settled at this point.

I just stopped using languages that require a "framework" or "development server" with monster json/yaml configurations to run a web server. In Haskell, a change from http to https is switching from warp.run to warp

Is generating localhost certs and then accepting them in your browser once is that hard? openssl genrsa -out key.pem 2048 openssl req -new -key key.pem -out certificate.csr openssl x509 -req -in certificate.csr -signkey key.pem -out certifi

I wonder, can it in theory be plugged in iPad and use it as a power source and external monitor somehow ? That would finally make iPad able of running Linux. I'd be able to practice my Agda on it, for example.

File named TAGS generated from hasktags (in case of Haskell) that gives you an easy way to "jump to definition" from Emacs or other editors. Good way to navigate codebases even if you don't know how to build them.

I disagree about lens. My new projects don't use them in main code-base and it was a great decision: - TAGS work like a charm to access field definitions - compile times are ok Of course, if library's API needs lens, they're

Good point! Let's not forget that, unlike the old days, it's kind of a standard to require redundancy and load-balancing from day 1, so not fitting machine's RAM hurts even more.

Yeah, but it would essentially still be more of a "string id" rather than a URL, e.g. you can just make your ID to look like "person-12345" and "pet-52435" without tying it to URL. Showing as valid URL can be a

I wish Google would develop protocols instead of frameworks, and only then put Dart (and others) on top. This way people would be able to choose their language on top, e.g. I'd love to use Elm, for one. No runtime errors, no mutability
