I think, most of deduplication issues come from (1) premature optimization and (2) doing "technical" instead of "semantic" deduplication. (1) When you pull things out too early, you might miss the big picture and constra

I noticed two ways. Either you don't get any updates and at one point you can't use any app because it's outdated. Or you get all updates and at one point you can't use any apps, because your phone became unbearably slow

I like that the top 15 contains movies I'd consider awesome and movies I'd consider utter garbage. As polarizing as could be.

Tangentially related, but as someone who watched Salad Fingers when it came out (I was ~20) I have the feeling it didn't age well. Somehow much of the stuff I found really funny in the 00s seems kinda pointless to me now. I rewatched S

I fondly remember the times. I'd built a site for Firefox and then conditionally import IE patches via those hacks to fix issues. In the worst case, I'd hand to bludgeon it into the right form with JS, but usually I got pretty far

And why would they? PHP and JS weren't designed with their big use-cases in mind, even if their creators like to boast ("Always bet on JavaScript", etc.) People saw the alternatives as much better solutions. We had JSP and Ja

Languages have trends too. Weak typing/Implicit conversion was cool in the 90s. JS and PHP would have magnitudes better if they were typed like Python, but that's history.

Let's build an API. I need a CI/CD pipeline to deploy it. I should use a static code analysis tool. I need an observability tool! Let's to security code reviews. Do I have a SBOM? Which MFA should I use? Should I put it insid

There seems some kind of dissonance for me. You create a new license to keep competitors artificially in check. Doesn't this hint to a flawed business model?

When I read Observability Engineering, I got the impression it was about long events and tracing, and metrics and logs were a thing of the past people gave up on since the rise of Microservices.
