I do care about lossless format but I don't care about physical products. I'll never buy another CD again but would be happy to pay for a lossless download. Of course there are none, so I frequently find myself heading over to dark side (wh

Something quite similar happened to me few years ago and I ended up with a very scary case of dysautonomia. Luckly it only lasted for couple month, but in this rather short period of time my whole perspective on live changed. It was only th

Switched from Django to Tornado a few month ago, and I've never looked back since. In Tornado everything just seems to makes sense and nothing gets in your way. I've worked with Django for couple years and never felt this way.

Yeah, me too. I think it's just politics, in the best traditions of big corporations, that doesn't do any good to actual web developers. From practical perspective we would be better off with Web SQL DB. Functionally it addresses everything

To be honest this sounds like first signs of depression - stuff that used to be fun is not anymore. Maybe I'm wrong but my guess would be that it's not directly related to programming, rather to lack of inspiration...

I think the situation is very similar in other new EU countries as well. There is enough talent but the lack of startup friendly business environment (VCs, market) is really discouraging. So at this point teaming up with peers in NA is one

Good news but I really hope Google figures out how to solve DeadlineExceededError. They are popping up from time to time for my app ( http://www.knowcase.com ) and I don't think it's datastore related.

Yes, stupid bug, forgot to remove some console.log statements which breaks on Firefox if Firebug is not installed (but works fine on Chrome & Safari). It's fixed now.

Hey fellow HNers! I created Knowcase as a sideproject over couple months, mainly scratching my own itch. I've been using Evernote to save all kinds of things that comes into my mind or I simply needed to remeber. I loved the "access anywher

Maybe I missed it but is there any kind of offline support? Ie. What happens when update to server fails? Or it's completely up to the developer?

I actually find it quite disturbing. When your conscious mind has been very focused on something the whole day it will naturally keep the momentum. That in turn makes it difficult to fall asleep and when you do the sleep is often quite thin

The point is that Java webapps are multihreaded. Classic Ruby apps require dedicated process for every parallel request. Hence your 4GB java app may still be more efficient than 500MB Mongrels.

I'm in Europe and bandwidth costs are relatively insignificant (as long as you don't travel abroad). Data roaming is whole different story, I really hope European Union will do something about it.

"In light of that, we no longer have plans to charge a supplement to make calls over 3G." I think this is huge. Mobile networks still charge 2$+ per minute for international calls. This basically makes it irrelevant.
