I used to work at Calendly (fantastic company out of atlanta). Around the "rudeness" of back and forth in Calendly. One of the most powerful features we built was the ability to show availability both ways. Meaning if the person w

Question from someone who is not super knowledgable about this subject - is this conceptually similar to using ML to solve linear equations? I.e. randomly guess and update weights... Is there a field of research in using ML approaches for t

Yes, I found a flaw right away. Not all problems that startups are solving are equal. If you want to build a Tesla competitor you're not going to be able to do that without raising money (unless you happen to already be a billionaire).

Reminds me of expages.com from back in the 90s. Creating a website was simple. The "login" page to create an expage was the same as the sign up, so you could easily create new websites on the expage.com domain.

How is this not just common sense? Not trying to sound cynical... I don't have background in this space. Honestly trying to understand why "things that are close together and more related than things farther apart" is conside

The one thing I hope is fixed is that for mobile browser, when I'm clocking a link in a wiki article to another link, and then I want to hit the back button to go to the article I was originally reading, the back button doesn't sc

Ever since I watched Bret Weinstein explain the problem with using today's lab mice[1], I've been more cautious about any results involving mice and cancer. [1] https://youtu.be/ve4q-1D_Ajo

This is actually a common tactic from malicious actors - pretend to be other bots to get through to websites. If you reverse lookup the IP address you can see if it part of the facebook network. UA is very untrustworthy

A little bit of overkill recommendations here. With 10 users you don't "need" to separate out the database layer. Heck you don't need to do that with 100 users. Website I ran back in 2007-2010 had tens of thousands of us

Seems like someone who is malicious could spin up a bunch of VMs, spoof their gps as slow moving across various streets to simulate traffic jams. Even sophisticated spoofing would have hard time detecting this. You could even do the inverse
