The data wasn't petabytes 3 years ago, it grew to that amount over time. But with that said, if you have replication and operational workflows set up, you minimize the chance of issues. If you have mission critical data, you should set

I've been using docker in production with Elasticsearch and MySQL for 3 years in the PB scale and have never had data corruption issues occur. Corruption occurs on data drives even without docker - you still have to plan for it. This i

I didn't know Google will actually display graphs now - is this a new thing? I've been using Wolfram Alpha up until now for getting quick graphs, though using Google would certainly be faster.

It's really unfortunate that most startups appear to be set up with ISO shares. The company I am at now is an LLC and distributes RSUs, which meant when I joined I was able to file an 83/b form which minimizes my tax impact. At my

I guess their latest Pebble version didn't get the sales they expected. Definitely surprising that they weren't able to sell the company - they had the brand and a loyal customer base. As an owner of a Pebble Time, I was impressed

I'm hoping nobody actually does this in production. As an academic exercise it is interesting. Maybe I'm old fashioned - I'm all for flexible APIs and all, but to its point. If a customer sends rotten stuff, it should just be

Kudos to analyzing the data! I wonder how the duplicate file detection was implemented. Was it just take a hash of the file contents and see if the hash already exist? Was it compare the file name? I imagine that many duplicates may exist t
