About that slice indexing problem I wrote a bug-report for the language specification like two years ago. The language specification itself is not clear about what types can be used as indices. Accepting int32 and similiar could be regarded

That's maybe true in some fields of mathematics. In others that's misleading, and the usual understanding of canonical as unprecisely defined "obvious choice" is definitely more helpful.

Yeah, that's somewhat correct but misses the intention. Back than classical algebraic geometry started to get extremely messy and mathematicians got lost in a maze. And would prove wrong theorems and stuff, a lot of notions they used w

Any recommendation for a (short) introduction to HoTT for a working mathematician?

Not a professional here - by my own standart at least - however I also program in C++ for a living (among other languages). Definitely Stockholm-Syndrom in my case. Was the first language in which I was forced to work on some larger codebas

That's true until people are suddenly hungry odr thirsty. Hunger or thrist will force them to act. And not necesserily nicely.

Exactly that the point. It's not clear. Except for whenever the main theorem of global class theory applies. Then it's clear up to a minus sign.

TL;DR To objects/sets are equal if and only if there is a canonical isomorphism/bijection between them. What that is is not necessarily clear, but there is an exception regarding abelian groups accotiated to a field, where the can

Indeed, this was very interesting. However, I missed a bit what changes to my diet I could do to improve myicrobiome. I would be glad to hear a scientist like her discussing this.

I'd argue choosing to use PlayStore for downloading Apps is already abuse. It's negligience towards the creators. On the other hand you don't need to put your app there, except for maybe if you want to attract some users.

FairMail is an insanely good Email-App. I have little to compare to, but it's sick how good FairMail is. I'd be surprised if there is something comparably good.

Oh, yeah that issue with the date related urgency calculation. I couldn't figure that out, too. I even started skimming through the code, but gave up since I couldn't find it within 10 minutes. I really love using taskwarrior, but

Seems like a cool project. However, what I definitely would need is to set dates to be within a specified time frame. Sometimes I write till like 3 am in the morning, and I would like to hide that. So like a hook, that makes some linear res

Wow. I never considered this before: Explaining certain kinds of behavior as the result of society-wide (patriarchaic) conditioning may be sexist itself, because it denies the womans individual agancy.

I had some strange change of mind about this. Previously, I was shocked about long waiting times as well. I must note that in my area the waiting time is rather a low 1 digit number of months, so the situation here is much less severe. But

Honest question: Why should we kill the fun? I mean addiction is a problem, but having a great time definitely isn't, right? Or do I miss something?
