Cool. Thanks for organizing this. I'd be interesting in presenting what we do with Redis at Craigslist if you're interested.

True. My fattest pipe is a mere 5Mbit at this point (I live out in the boonies).

I do exactly this using a Soekris box running pfSense. It's a godsend. Seriously. Perhaps I should blog about the setup as some point.

I'm guessing you'd be surprised by the number of people that still suffer from typing latency issues. Not everything is <20ms away, sadly.

Having use flot for stuff like this, what do you see as the main benefits for your library? Looking over the docs, I'd guess "simplicity" since it seems pretty easy to get going. Similarly, are there many plans for enhancements, or is that

Excellent. I've been considering doing something similar for our Sphinx indexes at Craigslist. Glad to see it works as well as I might have hoped.

I really hope (for Yahoo's sake) this happens. About half a year before I left, Yahoo turned down the offer from Microsoft that was in the $30/share range. I couldn't believe it. http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2008/feb08/02-01c

Hmm. I see "ENGINE=MyISAM" in the code. Nowadays I can't stomach using MyISAM for anything I care about not having some sort of corruption. Given sufficient time and scale, I've seen far too many issues with MyISAM. It'd be great to be a

In my 8.5 years working there, the "mission" of Yahoo that I came away with is to try to be everything to everyone--poorly.

As joshu said, well put. You hit the nail on the head. Of course, there was also a serious lack of vision and real leadership at the top as well, but that wouldn't matter with all the middle managers getting in the way.
