The problem with Heroku is that you need to be a certain level of tech savvy to make use of their services. We're expecting them to be the A-Grade tech wizards who can give us 0 down time. They are after expecting thousands of people to tr

No. Hardware can be commoditized as with the PC market. Apple has an incentive to sell Mountain Lion at $19 which is to increase the adoption of new OS versions. They also make money predominantly on hardware so a lower software cost isn't

"Market share" is a very vague term. Nonetheless, iOS beats out Android in web browser usage which is why Google derives much more ad dollars from iOS compared to Android. That is the important metric. "Market share" doesn't mean anything

To be fair, this is just some random writer at Forbes who doesn't really know what he's talking about to write a totally informed 'article' and is basing his 'article' on some quotes he found and his view of joining the dots. The dots bein

I just changed my password and deleted my Last.fm account. Just because I changed my password doesn't mean a new MD5 hash of my new password won't leak tomorrow. If you can't trust the service, don't use the service. To delete your Last.f

Amazon S3 has a more competitive outgoing bandwidth pricing. That works out best for me (lots of small files with small overall storage size but consume lots of bandwidth). You need to ask yourself, what is your main use case? More often

It's marketing. The emphasis is on the simplicity of the product. That being said, it's a 1.9ghz Celeron CPU. That can give negative connotations since Celeron is Intel's cheap line of processors.

Yes, there is a noticeable pro-Google bias on Hacker News. Links that show Google in a negative light are instantly backed up by Google employees. This comment will probably get down voted. I seriously don't care about votes and don't kn

Small storage, cheaper Celeron processor, cheap amount of RAM. The additional cost I'm guessing would be a hefty mark up. Perhaps they are trying to achieve Apple levels of profitability.

The problem is most of those aren’t actually apps (are any of them?) and are not shown at actual iPhone size. Dribble isn't the app store. The post may has well been titled 'Cool picograms in a 1024 pixel rounded square'.

It's not a "gimmick", it's called marketing plain and simple. It's why we have brands and markets. So we can associate them with _something_ and move on from terms such as 486DX 33Mhz. People want to buy an "iPads", not the Apple K48 table
