I prefer the scheme version, though the addition of 'distributed and parallel computing' chapter is really important and I welcome such new additions. Unfortunately 'distributed and parallel computing' is no where to be

This is an interesting question, and I hope someone with experiences on both sides could chime in. I would expect an prolog-like implementation in any mature language a possibility and retain language native syntax while garnering all the

You won’t see any real performance comparisons because any benchmark related to kdb+ is completely restricted by its company. J without the database (Jd) is dual licensed with gpl as an option, so you can try to compare the base language by

For interpreted languages, it doesn't matter semantically whether you use strings or not. It's always a run-time value that needs to get resolved when the interpreter gets there.

What do you mean? Should I count 1.6 multiple times? I just realized that this number is after ZFS compression. Here is the apparent size, $ du -h -A -d3 pkg/Wolfram/ 5.0M pkg/Wolfram/WolframScript/bin

Somebody should update this R7RS benchmark, https://ecraven.github.io/r7rs-benchmarks/ Though even if it is currently 3 times better than version 2.2.6 on that benchmark, guile is still far away from the top tier.

I guess it is useful if you are teaching kindergarteners. For high schoolers we write for(i=0;i<N;++i){ for(j=0;j<N;++j){ force = G*mass1[i]*mass2[j]/radius(i,j)^2 // do so

You know the language has potential when the top comments on HN are all about syntax. To generate more talking points, somebody ought to write an inverse of dumpLisp: https://nim-lang.org/docs/macros.html#dumpLisp.m%2Cu

If you are willing to give up S-Expressions, you might try Nim [0]. Its compile time macro system allows this fancy stuff easily, even with access to the type system. [0] https://nim-lang.org
