Bluetooth is the one thing I had problems in the past on GNU/Linux, Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Linux is the only mentioned platform where you could technically give Codex root and let it fix it :) I guess OpenBSD is the only OS w

The worst thing is that there is nothing technical preventing this kind of service from running fully local. All the audio is already being routed to any participant and transcription models are lightweight enough and can run in virtually a

That is likely true, but there are other factors. For example delayed sleep phase paired with fixed office work hours. I bet many people that have a slight 1-2h shift compared to the average are using an early morning coffee to make things

In some regulations you can also be expected to declare and pay tax on the money you earned from the interest, which can be annoying to do for such small values.

More of direct experience instead of a scientific explanation, but it feels cold to the touch. I would guess it is related to thermal conductivity.

This is one of those words that can sound exotic, but for the locals would be so plain and uneventful to hear. Kinda like all the Japanese words being used for software project names on Github.

I think this is an important nuance that may be missed in the article. The teacher pulling the parent aside to ask her to check her child made me remember what my partner said about the time they moved to China as a kid and how they were tr

Interestingly, I remember that the clean interface of old Reddit, not so different from current HN, was one of the nice things when coming from Digg back in the day. It started dying for me when they started censoring posts and comments to

You need Android in that case, but that defeats the simplicity of these devices.

Here is a different opinion. I’m always looking forward to see the pelican whenever a new model is released. It’s plain simple to understand, memorable, subtle enough in terms of details, and my favorite part is that you have been doing the

My guess is that they identified two different groups of consumers, the ones who want to buy the cheapest product in China and the ones that want it hackable. If they sell it cheaper (and open) they kill the profits coming from the second g

I guess it’s becoming harder for MS to define malware in a way that would catch this behavior but does not flag their own products as well.

I was just looking into it, with coupons and ongoing sale, it is possible to buy the Chinese version for about 7,500 JPY (45 USD) on Aliexpress, while on the official website (and Amazon) it is 13,900 JPY. I am not sure if this applies ever

Better to buy devices that can work without internet and just blacklist them at the router level. Price or origin is not a good metric to ensure no leaks.

Not gonna argue with the point that we need to support authors, but “can be purchased” is a relative concept.

Arguably there was not much interest on those platforms. I believe you will be right eventually when physical access of the actual machines are kept away from us, so it’s a matter of solving the latency issue.

I mostly program with Vscode/Copilot, where such commands require confirmation, but usually LLMs does not try it, since my prompts tend to be focused and not mentioning it.

The table select option in Okular is also great, as you can manually rearrange the divisions. For low volume, of course. Tabula will work better otherwise. I also suggest Libreoffice Calc, the .csv support is leagues ahead of Excel.
