No, I doubt this could ever be a real business. Even if it catches on, you'd have to sell millions of these dirt packets to ever make any money. There was a thread on HN about a condom key chain business that failed for this reason. Even th

You need a tagline that explains what the site is and differentiates in from competitors. I would also nix the advertising. For a new site with little traffic it won't make you much money and undermines your brand. I think you'll also find

Paper is just more trash, more clutter. It might be worth reading the first time, just to find good local blogs, but why would anyone want a collection of blog posts they have likely already read? If anything this is free advertising for th

Yes, the title is misleading. Simply having a form where none existed before doubled his RFPs. No reason to think there is anything magical about WuFoo forms, although it is a good service.

A few suggestions: There needs to be a way to sort the results by source so people can see only mentions on twitter, digg, blogsearch, etc. Currently it can be tough to tell where any given conversation was found. It would be helpful to hav

You need to allow brand names to be more than 20 characters. A lot of brands are longer than that, for example school names. "University of Blank" will almost always be too large, and those educational brands spend a ton of money on marketi

And why should they get the web better than any other bunch of middle-aged business guys? Microsoft is a desktop software company, the web isn't in their DNA. The web is a threat to kill their primary revenue streams! Goes to show that real

I agree no one will pay for friends. You can get them easily enough without paying, just by interacting with people and searching for users that Twit about relevant stuff. As much as people here think advertising is boring, I think Twitter

It's good to see a counter balance the "OMG Developer Made 100K in 3 Weeks!" mania we've been seeing lately. Still, there is clearly opportunity in these apps. You just shouldn't overestimate the odds of having a big hit right off the bat.

I think he's saying that a cushy job can lead to a mediocre career. Once you get used to high pay, perks, and having it easy, it gets extremely hard to leave for a risky (but likely more rewarding) opportunity. That situation is the norm at
