We got a Sodastream for Christmas along with a SodaMod kit which comes with three food-grade tanks with paintball fill valves. That way you can fill them at a sporting goods store for $5 instead of exchanging them for $15. Related to the

I've enjoyed learning, inspired by DeviantOllam and LPL. The clear practice locks are amazing for getting you used to the process. I haven't managed to pick anything that isn't see-through yet, but I enjoy trying. The highl

What other sites do you recommend with less math-focused problems?

No, because they have leaderboards. You have your choice of Google, Github, Twitter, or Reddit though. I don't believe Reddit even requires an e-mail address to create an account.

There's some laugh-out-loud moments in some of his other videos too, but it's like a Where's Waldo to find them. Somebody should make a highlight reel...

This was a lot of fun, thanks. I enjoy Advent of Code and the like -- this is similar, but with less guidance about what to do next.

.NET Compact Framework 3.5. Might not sound that old, but it's only supported in Visual Studio 2008. Microsoft keeps trying to kill it off, but the manufacturer I support is still shipping products using it.

I don't see this as a bad thing. Shell scripts are a great way to prototype text processing pipelines using multiple smaller components.

Structure is function at this level. Many proteins simply provide binding sites for a specific molecule. Others have multiple binding sites and combine molecules together into larger ones. All of these interactions are governed by the po

Reducing the impact of the bus factor, then. Kind of like turning down the air conditioning... which way does the thermostat go?

This is a very cool project, and a fantastic writeup. Personally I would have been tempted to extend the architecture to add unsigned i16 support.

Having a long last name and long company domain name, my work address weighs in at 31 characters, not fun to spell over the phone. I just use a different address if I have to spell it over the phone.

My wife uses something like sendmestuff44@<major provider>.com for her junk mail which gets a lot of funny looks from cashiers but works great.

I spent hours debugging an issue that boiled down to an IPV4 parser that treated leading zeroes as octal. Connections to 192.168.123.100 worked as expected. Connections to 192.168.123.034 went to 192.168.123.28. I thought sure it was an i

The AHK script that has saved me the most RSI is mapping Caps Lock to double-click. Sounds weird, but didn't take long to pick up, and has saved me uncountable mouse clicks.

Sonic Pi is a friendly Ruby face on the Supercollider engine, so the family resemblance is no coincidence. I'm not sure what a universal API would look like, but you can easily build Sonic Pi sketches to take in things like OSC or MID

LED video walls are down in the 0.7mm dot pitch vicinity. Not quite the ~0.3mm of a 4K 55" LCD, but we're getting there. And the brightness and contrast ratio can't be beat.
