I've noticed this as well. I start at 1 and anything higher adds one. The karma formula just seems to be very simple. Add one for every up vote and subtract one for every down vote you get from other people on anything.

I'd suggest emailing Apple. It would probably be more effective.

I'll second the call to Python. There's a fairly large community around it, it has a lot of libraries to use in your code, the source is very easy to read both because of it's enforced formating rules and the clarity of the language itself

The flaw in your reasoning is you present different areas and don't consider overlap. The way you explain it, you make it sound like a hacker / coder is a beast more constrained by his class than a twelfth level paladin. A successful start

Step 1) Make a realistic five year forecast and sum all revenues over this set. Step 2) Apply pixie dust and happy thoughts. Step 3) Adjust ratio depending on quality of data set and desired outcome. Basically you're pulling a number out of

Unless you're targeting a specific gender / race / etc I'd suggest getting advice and opinions from as many people of diverse backgrounds as possible.

The killer features I see with Silverlight is it's ability to run javascript four orders of magnitude faster than the current average browser. Firefox 3 is apparently taking Adobe's ECMA script engine which kicks the speed up a few notches

Kind of a neat tool, but I didn't see anything that caught my eye. Except the price. A hundred bucks for a logo I design myself online with no designer even telling me it's crap is just a little excessive. My recommendation is to find a d

Necessity is a powerful motivator. Until you need to learn something the drive isn't cranked up.

I don't myspace and such people who I can just go for a beer with. A meetup would be best, but I'm not of the mind to spend a grand or so to fly to another country. Not even counting the travel time, I'd probably spend more time just in s

My guess is the same reason I felt compelled to click on the link. OS X is the best desktop Unix experience I have ever had. It has all the tools I use, all the power underneath, and it comes wrapped in a pretty pretty wrapper. Linux to m

Incorporation was really easy and fairly cheap. My corporation has one shareholder, just me, and no real rules outside the formal ones needed to exist. I did this for three main reasons. First, I wanted to experience the paperwork and has

I wouldn't exactly call that negative PR. They didn't blame you, or come out and call you a monster. It was more of a casual reference. If my company was featured that way in a large publication I'd be fairly happy. As a side note, nice

I'd recommend this tutorial as a starting point then: http://www.djangoproject.com/documentation/tutorial01/ It's the official tutorial and is very fast, simple, and introduces a very good portion of Django.

I really like the fact that comments count for something here. In fact I'd be happy if posts counted for nothing and only comments did. It promotes and rewards discussion, which is what I come here for. Articles are good and all, but the

I read what you wrote and my finger was sweeping down to click your up arrow. Then time slowed and the realization of what you're doing hit. Why do you torture me like this? It's not humane.
