I tend to agree... Why would you go all the way to Earth with your god-like-technology only to get caught by our (to them) dumb-dumb radar systems and airplanes; and not at least say "hello". I'd think that if you can travel

Say Goldman can beat the market by 20%. They sell you a fund that promises to beat it by 1%. The additional 19% return on YOUR MONEY they keep. You are guaranteed alpha at exactly 1%. Goldman makes fees and infinity ROI for taking risk. Win

There should be a fund that guarantees a return in excess of an index (adjusted for fees). In exchange the fund managers would get fees and excess returns on their clients capital. This way instead of arguing over which approach is better,

What if the solution to the Fermi paradox is that Einstein was right and nothing can travel faster than light and intelligent life is spread too far apart to notice one another? Our galaxy alone is 100,000 light years across, and we've

Honest question. If your back hurt and your primary-care-physician recommended you see a chiropractor but you saw on wikipedia that chiropractic is pseudoscience with a risk of injury; how would you proceed?

This is great info. Thanks for this. With sites like this, it feels like the citations are a form of DDOS or EULA boilerplating where they could demand naming rights to your first born because they know you won't read it.

Bookmarking that. Thank you! I think I was starting to draw that conclusion. If a claim is in the Lancet, NEMJ, Nature, etc; its probably pretty credible. If a claim is in another journal; it shouldn't have much bearing on my decision

Are there any guides / heuristics on how a layperson can evaluate technical literature? For example my mother-in-law is starting to micro-dose lithium and cited this article as evidence: https://www.lifeextension.com/ma

If it makes you feel any better; same thing happened to me. Ugly Frankenstein process to get our data out of a third party vendor who can only e-mail us reports failed half-way through its run, and I was about to spend hours digging through

I've been in Dallas since '07, and I still don't understand the school system / hierarchy here; but it is fascinating when you look into it. Big money seems to go to Highland Park (public, but not Dallas despite being su
