I've run a Jekyll site from S3 with no difficulty, at a satisfactorily low hosting cost. Cloudfront takes only minutes to setup, and the costs are competitive, so I imagine it's a promising route.

I love Evernote as a productivity tool, and I do have a few decent recipes buried within, but I have doubts about adding first class support for them (a la Evernote food), or first class support for this or that. Evernote have done an amazi

With AppFog [1], you can get WordPress with the tantan-s3 plugin pre-installed for uploads so you can share nothing (but the database) and scale with a click. You also get Varnish caching with no additional work. Full disclosure: I am an en

Nearby Pingdom? It's always possible that you're in the same data center. In theory, CloudFront pages are always hosted nearby.

This reminds me of HipHop for PHP. HipHop lowers PHP to C++, with a direct mapping for control flow (control structures, exceptions) and a runtime library for everything else. Apparently it works very well.

Your concerns are valid. It costs nothing but a few minutes to start an open source project. Projects of this scope, however, do benefit from some amount of early design and planning. After reading PHK's recent rant [1], and reflecting on B

That's exactly right. I was part of a similar audit at a past company during their exit. We essentially had to inventory the license of every Rails plugin, script, etc. we had ever used.

" If I didn't have an SMS, the services were up and running." I wildly agree. I'm more apt to deploy a second monitoring system than replace one. I don't worry until it reaches the PagerDuty threshold.
