One of mine: sometimes (50% of the times?) turning on my MacBook Pro for the first time leads to the Dock using very high CPU and making switching between desktops abnormally slow. The fix is to force-kill the Dock app, and make it restart

It is not defeat and you did not fail. Running a business is incredibly hard, and I think the entire HN audience would applaud you for even trying and give you our support.

The language is only part of it. In my opinion, you would learn even more about C by consuming well-known libraries written in C and trying to do something useful with it and complementing that with some books, etc rather than just learning

I'm a very terminal heavy Engineering Manager and Technical Lead at a ~600 employees tech startup. Slack is a tricky one and there are no decent terminal clients available, but I do a LOT of e-mail on mutt as my main client and could n

I recently published a tool to automatically upgrade JSON Schema definitions across versions of the specification: https://alterschema.sourcemeta.com . It is a nice little utility that didn't take much effort to build yet se

The full example is sadly closed-source for now. That said, we are closely collaborating with the maintainer of PKG as part as the Node.js SEA initiative, and we hope to be kickstarting an experiment on refactoring PKG to use Postject prett

My team is working on this problem in the context of creating Node.js single-executable applications. While the naive approach of just appending data at the end of the binary works, it is not friendly with code-signature in macOS and Window

Hi Dimitry, nice to see you around here! :) This is really cool. How about a CircleCI orb too? Postman has plenty of micro-services with OpenAPI definitions that could really use this. My bet is that a lot of mature companies doing spec-fir

Exactly. The key is being a great engineer, and there are great engineers everywhere. I guess my point is that at least anecdotally, average engineers in Latin America are notably beyond average engineers in Europe and North America.

I think this article underestimates the difficulty of finding great talent in Latin America as a remote company. Everybody in Latin America wants to work remotely at foreign companies, yet few actually do in practice. I was born and raised
