I stand corrected! Thank you. I'm still mostly convinced that harvesting the energy and re-using it ala elastic tendons is a decently good idea. But probably far too complex.

Can someone point out where "powered rollerskates" are strictly worse than legs in civilized urban human environments, to an extent that a few extra hundred billion dollars of R&D are warranted? The "approximate capabilit

Electric motors dont have a lot of "give", like hydraulics do. But yes force-torque controllers can be tuned to be squishier. Someday I think electric motors will be the muscles and we'll have some kind of elastic tendons. Fo

Straight and true. The other view is fine too: Base-9 would mean "max number is 9".

TFA is about people under 35 and mostly discusses college campuses. Yes that is precisely the age group that is trying to reconcile their world view, life goals, and relationship with the world.

I think you hit it on the head, but not the issues: the sentiment. Everywhere I turn I see a macro version of poor self talk. Keep in mind the article's target age group just barely excluded me and includes most my friends. Its not lik

I get the sentiment, but when reality hits unrealistic parental expectations, things get messy. If you have to put a show on TV to give some songs to sing along to or to distract them while you're making lunch, I'm not judging you

Dumb question: There exist randomized approximation algorithms for Weighted Hitting Set, yet it is NP-Hard. Assuming I haven't said anything dumb yet, this surely should satisfy it: Why does this not prove BPP != P? Perhaps: Am I incor

The rotating angle suggests immediately the domain and definition of Sin(x), Cos(x) using simple projections. And, huuuuge bonus, that's a right triangle. I just think lesson zero in the above article should have been these projections
