Wow, when did HN get overtaken by haters? Ok, it is just a prototype, but I don't see anyone here making their own flying car. I for one think it is pretty cool, even if it is just a concept. Obviously serves a very specific use case b

Your point rests on the premise that institutions carry some kind of permanent guilt with them that delegitimises what they stand for. There's a number of issues with that, not least of which is the fact that institutions are not neat

I mean that I run my searches through DDG, I dont think there's a way to even allow them to have anything else as they strictly don't track. There's no other way to have a search engine other than by having an IP and a search

This is the reason why I feed DDG all my data, even if I'm going to use their !g function to do a Google search anyway. A monopoly on search is a monopoly on the truth.

Great job guys. One problem I've had though is that I think you guys are hosted on AWS - a lot of websites block incoming connections from AWS. Are there plans to add an option in future to route through clean IPs? Premium or default,

This is just ridiculous. If Overstock is the biggest retailer in the world accepting Bitcoin, and on their opening day they only manage $130,000 in sales (130 BTC), what does that tell you about the volume of Bitcoin actually being used in

If card companies are paying it all back to consumers, then what are their shareholders ending up with? I agree with you that not all the $500Bn is going directly into the pockets of shareholders, but the reality is that there is a huge tra

You're all missing the point on why people have static sites. In the words of Paul Graham - "Static sites are the fixies of the Internet."[0] [0] https://twitter.com/paulg/status/402205795552489472

That's right, but I don't think opportunistic squatters are that big a deal. The problem is people who own portfolios of names that don't get used, and there's no way these players can put unique pages up for an entire p

Ahh yes, good point. Could the agent learn how to recognise each of these use cases and tax accordingly? Or could people learn to put up a unique website for any domain they use, or risk being taxed?

Is there any way to enforce a use requirement? One idea would be to have an agent[0] with its own Bitcoin wallet purchase server time that it uses to index the web and compute a uniqueness factor of each page. The agent then calculates a ta

Lots of copyright doctrines are more restrictive than the US. Most notably, a lot of jurisdictions don't have a concept of fair use nearly as broad as the US concept. Also, the US uses trade treaties to cajole other countries into adop

Fair enough you publish the unsolicited email, but when you respond and the other person responds back, and the only people in the two and from lines are yourselves, it starts to be private, at least in my view.
