Last week my mother called me after she broke down on the side of the road. So I popped her hood, broke her timing belt, then sped off. Have to agree with you, seems fairly pointless to kick someone while they’re down. Computer problems are

I believe he means organizations that are involved in other illegal or harmful activities sans the drug presence.

I’m surprised the article doesn’t have a tag for point of view, although it’s hard to disagree with the claims. Still, it’s one of the most hostile articles I think I’ve read on Wikipedia.

I would think the average person would feel slimy/predatory buying someone else’s Nobel prize. Unless it’s the case of a friend offering to help out, but then why not just lend the money without the collateral?

That’s a really good point. Thanks for the food for thought.

Are you saying that your team hasn’t done enough of the latter, or that they don’t focus enough on the former?

I’ve agreed with this more and more as I get older. It wouldn’t surprise me if this correlation was pretty much universal. It reminds me of using cheat codes in old video games. When you play normally, you’re chasing an objective that can t

That’s a pretty interesting theory that makes a lot of sense. I only casually play BR type games and this has certainly felt true for me.

I’d guess he’d answer that it’s hard to be sure the people verifying the news are not just censoring what they don’t like.

I don’t think he was negative at all. I think his response was one that most everyone would have had. What do you think he could have done better?

Same. I haven’t deleted my account but I haven’t browsed the site in over a month. I’m far more productive now. I had started off by trying to unsubscribe from the subreddits that were mainly image based. This didn’t really make much differ

“If it compiles, it probably works.” This has been so true in my experience. I find that it does take longer overall to write something in Rust, but I almost never have to root out strange errors from my code. In shorter files, I almost nev

I've been diving headfirst into C for a project at work with no previous experience, while being quite comfortable in Rust. I couldn't agree more.

With a large enough dataset, I bet you totally could. But if someone were completely anonymous, it might require too many inputs for it to be practical in a one off situation. I’d guess you could identify someone with enough time after they

Personally, yes. It's easier for me to feel less psychologically manipulated if I'm seeing ads for tampons, in addition to not feeling like someone knows more about me than I'm comfortable with.

Hmm, I interpreted what he said as referring to the improved quality of life for the people who use the products/services that the programmer worked on. I'm not sure which interpretation is correct.

As someone who is still annoyed that their degree program (a non-CS engineering) had them use Matlab instead of Python, I find it hard to disagree with those points. I will say that I definitely enjoy the 1 based array indexing.

A third perspective that I’ve read from someone who claimed to live near one of these implementations was that the music was so loud, it didn’t matter what it was. No one wanted to stand around such an obnoxious noise source.
