Yeah, I bought my wife an iMac 4-5 years ago with the standard HD config and it feels almost useless being so slow. My even older MBA with half the RAM and an SSD is much more usable.

I think the one near my office in the US has its own Spotify playlist that they use in store. I am pretty sure they had a link to it or something on the wall if you wanted to follow. I'm going to have to try and remember to look again

You would hope, but I bet it rarely happens. I've only been in a courtroom once and hope to never have to deal with that again. Its a real let down seeing how decisions are made so quickly.

Looked through your IG, very cool. Who/what are you using for internet access while on the road? I'm interested in trying to travel more when working remote but trying to make sure I end up with a decent connection each day seems

In my first job out of college I was required to do the after hours prod releases with another guy (we were the 2 youngest on the team...). We did quarterly releases most of the time and did everything manually from building/packaging

Ran into this type of thing last year. Definitely a weird one to debug by looking at things, but easy to figure out when you print out the dates or read documentation.

Yep, had the same thing happen after I implemented an automated mailing process at work. Luckily the ticketing system we hit was slower and I caught it around 6k emails the next day.

I think they look cool and everything, but it still doesn't seem very practical for real use. Maybe if you are just occasionally cruising around on a nice day. Most people don't do very well with bike maintenance and I assume this

Yeah, this is weird. I would be very surprised if the company doesn't have some sort rule against this. I started working from home a few months ago and as part of the agreement there is a clause about not being the primary caregiver o

I think we have very different definitions of cute... However, I have had many more run ins with opossums than bats.

I took my wife/daughter/myself to the ER to figure out if we should get it since it is the only place that carries the vaccine near us. We ended up not getting it and still walked out with a $3000 bill.

Yeah, its pretty weird. I had never really ran into bats until late this summer when I was sitting on the couch around 10:30PM and one flew through our living room. I caught it in a plastic container and let it go. Looking down the rabbit h

Yeah, same here. I was fairly active on it > 10 years ago but haven't really kept up with it since I got locked out of my original account once they switched to Yahoo. I can only imagine the amount of trash that would get uploaded w

Yep, tons of spider in Missouri... I used to be somewhat freaked out about brown recluse spiders as a child but now as an adult I could care less. There is one with a web setup in my basement that I walk by every day, I just let it be since

Weird since my child is in this school district. They also don't mention much about the fact that every child (as far as I know) has a Chromebook provided, so I doubt this would be a common thing where kids are logging into Google Driv

I'd take some cold weather commuting over summer commutes here in the Midwest US... Those 100 degree days with 95% humidity are a killer unless you have a shower at work.

I will agree with this. I think the problem solving aspect is much more beneficial than actually programming. If you have great problem solving/critical thinking skill then converting those into some program is trivial. I also think 5

Airboats aren't quiet at all.... maybe you mean a canoe/kayak with an electric trolling motor? Newer PWCs aren't all that loud as long as you aren't going full throttle.

I go occasionally, usually when I am going to make a larger electronics purchase like a laptop, camera, etc. I still like being able to check out a physical copy of something and make sure it is what I am wanting. I still like the breadth o

Got back into fly fishing. I started when I was in college but kind of just ran out of time to practice and never really had many friends who did outdoorsy things. My new job has me on-call a few months out of the year and it allows me to s

Yeah, coffee is crazy expensive when you look at how much shops charge you for a drink. It costs about $1.33 per day for the 20oz of coffee I make for my wife and I. Really not bad considering if we were to both go out and buy a coffee ever

I think part of the problem is the lack of space to "park" a bike. You might be lucky to find one or maybe two bike racks per block compared to how many parking spaces? If I ride my bike to the bar to meet a couple friends I might

Yeah, my friend works for a decent sized company that writes banking software. He mentioned that some of the larger clients send a person everyday by plane with a tape for their daily data load. Seems strange in today's world.
