If it's a 5 year old project, you probably shouldn't be building it with the current versions of tools. You need to pin your dependencies and use the same versions of the tools as before. It'd be the same thing with libraries

Precisely this. I've not even used WebUSB, but while reading this post, I was reminded of similar pain points with Firefox. I found myself thinking of what browser I could switch to while reading comments before finding this thread. I&

I was a big coasting driver before having an EV. I will admit I miss it slightly for how it feels. However, I don't find this to be genuine. Regenerative braking wastes more energy? That doesn't really add up if you're doing

When combined with direnv, the nix portion is almost entirely cached, so there's nothing to make it slow. I use pre-commit hooks via devShell in many projects, and they're nearly instant. The only exception is when the hook itself

Nobody said this. I suggest that you not escalate the discussion in this direction. You're obviously biased given involvement with detsys, nobody expects you to think differently. This crass dismissal off the issue with a strawman isn&

My garmin is more than easily charged in the same amount of time. With its capacity I can even forget to do so for weeks and have no issue.

I may need to dig into the app more. I have mostly had complaints so far. Years ago I had an android wear device and the software integration seemed a lot better; I have considered the garmin software to be on the weak side and fairly annoy

Without more information, that sounds like extra complexity. You can easily do per-host configurations using home-manager. Actually, I consider that one of the perks of the nix based setup, so I'm not sure why I'd want another too

While the junk item situation on amazon is real, I can't agree with this take about local stores. I find that local stores tend to have random crap that they want to sell rather than high-quality items.

I don't think this is a universal solution. I was unemployed for around 6 months, and my parents thought it was laziness that I didn't try to get a job at a gas station or something. I used the time to develop skills that helped m

It is incredible how long these feelings can stick with us. My first few years out of university, I didn't even make $10k total combined. It is taking a long time to come to terms with the fact that I'm doing better now. Behind in

I can vouch for this advice. I had an encounter with a bad employer and a 6 month period without a job. I ended up taking a position somewhere that treated me like a freak for it and tried to use it to weaken negotiation. Additionally, they

Based on your comment, you've based your identity around something that requires packing the rest of us into traffic like cattle. Many people have died unnecessarily to support this lifestyle. Many more have their time utterly wasted a

Obligation to ship is overrated. Not everything has to be made in a crunch time marathon. There are lots of avenues to be explored without the constant pressure to perform. I think it's a good thing if they take their time crafting thi

It's a bit rough around the edges, but I made precisely this. You bring your own CalDAV server, and it will create a REST API that allows for scheduling. Alternatively, the CalDAV functionality is separated into a library, so you don&#
