Totally fair. Translation is one of those specific domains where model size correlates directly with quality, and no amount of architectural efficiency can fully replace parameter count.

Flash model n is generally a slightly better Pro model (n-1), in other words you get to use the previously premium model as a cheaper/faster version. That has value.

We see the same with Google's Flash models. It's easier to make a small capable model when you have a large model to start from.

Historically we did this with suddenly unused industrial buildings in cities. Liverpool and London's Dockland warehouses, New Yorks lofts in lower Manhattan. When it is suggested today modern planners and developers say it can't b

Are we going to see separate articles on BBC news for each of Cloudflare, Docker, T-Mobile, Verizon, AWS all apparently affected by the same outage? Leading with the CEO's name? lol of course not.

There are attempts to extract it but I'm not sure any are successful. org mode is so tightly intertwined with Emacs features. For example tables can have calculations where the expressions are implemented in emacs lisp and can use emac

Curious if SOTA models would have the same sentiment? Probably, but they are capable of more context and nuance. The reason I ask is the post seems focused on models you can run locally.

Windows 11 has zero lag on the start menu so I don't care if it is hand coded assembler or some bloated web crap. I even ran Windows 10 on Thinkpad x240 a couple of years ago, it also ran fine.

Both are absolutely fine. I don't get it. I use both os daily and neither is remotely laggy, looks nice, supports all the hardware and software and I don't have to be surprised or spend hours downloading drivers to make it work.
