It would be very difficult to run a game like this which requires large numbers of users to make money in a clandestine fashion. I worked on the tech for an MMO that launched in S.Korea a few years ago and even then we had to be careful to

I wish him luck. Various projects have come along with backing from people outside the video game industry with the goal of being more realistic, more revolutionary and so on. But it's a lot harder to make a playable fun game. Realism often

As they are so dependent on Samsung as a supplier I can't help thinking they're trying to get leverage for negotiations of future components, rather than actually kill the Galaxy

node has a neat API for quickly knocking out stuff like this; it's a useful tool for more than just server code. Calling that comment fanboyism is just displaying the opposite of fanboyism, prejudice against hyped-up tools that nevertheless

It's really not the same as giving refunds to a customer. Keeping your customers happy is really important. Keeping your employees happy is also important. Keeping ex-employees happy is really not that important. Personally I might have pai

Farmville is the number 7 game on facebook in May with 5 million daily users. You can buy Farmville yhemed cups in 7/11. A level of obscurity to dream of.

Incidentally the book Modern Compiler Design in C has sample code in a mostly functional style and talks about these same issues.

I also like Psytrance. I just search for Psytrance on shoutcast and go with one of the top 3. The nice thing about these kind of genres is they're loud and monotonous and drown out the world, whilst not being too much work to listen to.

I thought the point was that you have the freedom, as a programmer, to try whatever you want. Your success is still limited by the market, but you are not limited by needing substantial capital or needing to motivate a large team of people.

Xbox and Playstation have the same kind of games, and Call of Duty is of course on both. Consumers have expectations of what a social game is. Why not offer them the choice of social network to play them on?

You seem blind to the popularity of Zynga and other makers of 'shitty' games. Steam has plenty of what you would call real games. G+ is wise to court the popular games first.

I liked it for the fun single player level design mostly. The game engine also paid a lot of attention to details othe fps did not. Different reactions based on where the bullet hits an enemy. Security cameras. Alarms. Stealth sections.

It's not a Comet style poll because the only requests I see it making are to a server that seem to be tracking metrics that have no response.

It should be illegal because the balance of power is in favour of the employer most of the time. Same as questions about whether you plan to have children, if it was optional to ask then those who don't would choose to answer and those who

Not only that, package developers are 'lazy' for not documenting or moving to github? I don't see the author volunteering to do anything. :)

I'd love it if my office could be the coffee shop, or wherever I happen to be, but so far I've found that after a certain level of complexity and team size you pretty much have to be in the same room to make constant progress. I'm not sure

I have worked at game development companies for nearly 20 years. Initially I worked a lot of overtime for free, but after a couple of years I started to feel the effects on my life. After that I mostly just did not do OT unless it was paid.
