There are ways to mitigate these issues, not sure if SF has tried. Canada has some timed doors that open after 5 minutes, and there is lighting that prevents intravenous drug use.

I think the WiiU has some great features. Playing new Mario for example looks great in HD, and at the end of each level you can post messages that other players will see. This creates the feeling that you're not in a vacuum. The WiiU is not

I quite like the cyberpunk color theme. Wondered if it was a bit gimmicky at first, but it has stuck. http://imgur.com/eRnb1uL https://github.com/n3mo/cyberpunk-theme.el

Powerful tools have a learning curve. C++ and Git take longer to learn than JavaScript and SVN.

Almost, except Wave is a specific product that didn't find an audience. Go is a general purpose language and it already has users outside of google to care for it.

I do the same. I make notes on a web page, book or slide deck in emacs by setting transparency. If someone came along and removed it to just because of internal code changes I don't care about I would also be angrily posting on bug reports.

I love magit. I think magit-status is probably the most used command in my emacs log. Or at least the most used buffer. What I like most is that it doesn't try to simplify or hide git's workflow too much like some other gui's do.

There's Charles proxy, seems as good as Fiddler although I'm not a power user. http://www.charlesproxy.com/ For dev tools I use PHP Storm, IntelliJ IDEA and Emacs for everything else http://emacsformacosx.com/

I should get that on a t-shirt thanks. Actually I'm British and don't have strong feelings about the phrase either way. If I did, I still don't criticize people for using idioms of their own culture.

I know what it means. Why add it to the end of an argument out of the blue if it's not intended that way? Still it was late at night and I should have added my own smiley. ;)

> You mean, you couldn't care less, right? :P (Sorry, that particular Americanism is a pet peeve of mine.) "I could care less" is an American idiom, and this is a US site. Ad hominem.

Using the term thread interchangeably with goroutine causes confusion, otherwise why bother having a different name for them in the first place?

I guess I can't argue with that even though it's 5 years old. In my experience the US is a little worse for crunching than Canada where I work. In addition mobile, social and casual game tends to have less crunch than traditional boxed reta

I don't know if you have any stats or facts to back up this claim. I'm a game developer and have worked 40 hour weeks for years and have a broad range of out of office friends and activities. I know many others the same.

The article suggests you can teach everything a $150k programmer knows to a fresh grad $60k programmer. Damn I want to know about these training techniques. It's usually 5-10 years depending on domain.

Been a video game programmer since 93 and I totally agree with your comparison with the movie industry. If you're going to make a AAA game you need a huge budget both for development and for marketing, which means that only the 'sure thing'

Clojure has a loop/recur construct which makes the tail recursion explicit so doesn't need to be done by the JVM. In other words regular recursive calls should not be used for loops if you want performance.

No qualms here. I cook for my family and I'm quite adept at that, but when it comes to getting my hands dirty or fixing things I'm not interested. When I was a teen my stepdad used to try and get me out of the bedroom to help in the yard or

If you intend to be a professional programmer for 10 years, 20 years, maybe 40 years, why is it a big deal to spend 2 years becoming adept at an editor? Vim and Emacs are both likely to be lifelong tools that will easily repay the difficult
