I agree with your point in genera but in my experience as a developer who works in Vancouver, but has also worked in SF and NY, the salaries are about the same in number if not in currency. The CAD has dropped 30% in a couple of years thoug

I don't know why you think it would be so easy. LinkedIn seems to work fairly well to me, and it is not a trivial site to build by any measure.

This has happened to me with Amazon servers too, it's just the nature of the cloud. I think Digital Ocean handled this as well as can be expected.

One thing I've noticed is that Apple product users (myself included) always think Mac and iPhone software was so much better 5 years ago. Is it really? I think if you look at it in detail there are features that take turns at being bad

Some backends are fairly sophisticated and require extensive domain knowledge from designing databases that can be scaled, caching systems, security issues and so on. On the client side you may need someone who is an expert in C#, in 3d ren

If Richard Feynman taught our children physics that would be great too. Your bar is unrealistically high I feel. I'm pretty sure there's a large percentage of math teachers that want to teach math and enjoy teaching it. I'm n

I tried Webstorm when embarking on a React Native project. What turned me back to emacs was that neither worked well with jmx in my experience. I tried Atom which did manage jmx excellently but it crashed and or locked occasionally which wa

Since we are forced to live in a world divided into countries, it seems fair to view your own employment position defensively. If I'm doing a job and I get paid X, then I get laid off, but before I can find a new job I have to train an

I'm nostalgic for those days, I learned assembler and made simple demos and games which lead to a career in video games. But I'm not sad. Look at the current generation. They have game development tools like Unity and Unreal Engin

This is true and as a software developer that has made a living in Vancouver for many years I appreciate it. But when the loonie drops 30% on the usd I can understand why companies here in Canada find it harder to get graduates

But China wants its people to feel wealthy. The property boom ended, then there was gold boom. They wanted a stock boom. People that feel wealthy are happy citizens. They have every reason to keep the stock market high.

Whenever my son has a new math teacher, I taught him to ask if he can change the base when reciting the times tables. For example the 12 times table in base 12 is 10, 20, 30, 40 and so on. It usually gets a laugh or a tut before he has to d
