Both are in the business of storing data that can later be retrieved again, so I don't think your analogy really holds in this case. Maybe you are thinking of one particular nosql solution but I think almost all projects could find an alter

Yes I understand that, but if SQL would become oracle expensive I think you will see a lot of companies/projects switching to one of the many nosql options that don't infringe IBM's patented API.

I guess it would speed up nosql adoption quite a bit if things would actually get that far.

Lately I've been thinking that Haskell might be a really good language to write cross platform native apps in. It's super fast but also high level so you can be really productive. I know there are some libs for iOS but if some sort of cross

I feel the part about it being open source is either misleading or your description is just really vague, even after the update. First you mention the core is open source, then you mention we need a license for which we can pay as much as w

Yes, but the rewards also mention a license, that will apparently be based on 'pay what you think it's worth'. It all seems very vague to me and I'm not sure how it all will work. Might just be me though.

The guide at github[0] is pretty easy to follow. I've done it on some of my fellow students' pc's a couple of times during a project, but most of them switched to Ubuntu after a couple of weeks. [0] http://help.github.com/win-set-up-git/

As mentioned by orftz it is valid HTML5, but what I did find interesting is that the footer is being inserted with javascript, does anyone know the reason for that?

This looks really great, I've been looking for a fast charting library for my current project. I had been using flot but it's just a little too limiting. I was looking into building something like this http://square.github.com/crossfilter/

Because a lot more people use GitHub themselves I suppose. It's more fun to build something you can use yourself.

Isn't the fact that you have to refactor so much of other peoples code an indication that something might be wrong? I'm not familiar with the PHP ecosystem but I don't know of many people having to refactor Ruby gems.

Well it's a personal preference of course but in my opinion it actually makes code much more readable. It forces everyone to use the same conventions for indentation and it gets the 'clutter (brackets)' out of the way so you can focus on wh

Did anyone find an explanation for why they opted for brackets in favor of whitespace or a ruby-like syntax?
