Most of my frustrations with GHA arise when doing something useful conflicts with someone’s idea of security. For example, branch protection rules intended to stop devs from yoloing commits blocking me from pushing a version bump commit dur

These lawsuits are about enforcing contract terms. In business, if you don't honor agreements you get sued (and lose).

The parent post is referring to the "golden parachute" execs are entitled to when fired by new ownership in situations like this. This is different from getting the $54.20 for shareholders. The purpose of these payments are to hel

The cold weather performance is significantly worse, and as somebody who lives in a region with snowy winters I'm tired of the way environmental activists and car manufacturers both seem to be on the same page about pretending this isn

The sweet spot in my experience has been for WFH orgs to get together periodically for extended offsites. A one week gathering twice a year has forged some incredible bonds on my distributed team.

I like that for the present moment there are a diversity of approaches and people can somewhat self-select into a work culture that fits their preferences and needs. If you make abrupt changes I don’t like, rest assured I will be using my n

This is a cool party trick, but I don't see a need for this in any real applications. Black and white is its own art form, and a lot of really great black and white images would look like absolute garbage if you could convert them to c

This is whataboutism. Drunk driving kills and should be harshly punished. People who are unsafe drivers for other reasons (e.g. too old) should be handled separately, but their existence is not an excuse for irresponsible behavior.

Threads badly needs search and trending topics. Once they have those features, it will do much better. The product as it currently exists makes it exceedingly difficult to find conversations you are interested in about current events.

For a modern switch option that is quiet but has a pleasant tactility, I've enjoyed using zilents. Get ready to open your wallet, though, because they definitely charge a premium for them: https://zealpc.net/products&#x

Agreed. The switches on Model M are loud as hell, and those big plastic cases they used on various vintage keebs give them a real growl you don't get on more modern cases that tend to be smaller and/or machined out of solid metals

Some of this is good advice, but I definitely wouldn't advocate embellishing your resume in this way. You're going to waste a lot of time on the phone with recruiters exploring roles you probably are not a good fit for. Also if I

Nearly all mobile games are designed to get you addicted and then monetize you via micro transactions. IMO it’s better to just not participate in that form of gaming. I deleted all mobile games about 10 years ago after I found myself unable

I think the dip reflects high inflation since the graph says values are afjusted to 2022 dollars. The job market was still good in 2022 so I don’t think there was a large nominal decline in pay across the industry.
