You give them a bag of marbles and tell them to show you 5 marbles and 3 marbles and then show you how much there are when you put them all together. That's how I taught my kids addition.

Yeah I guess it's too hard for teachers to actually interact with their students to get an idea of their understanding of a subject. Let's do standardized multiple choice tests that only require you to learn how to pass tests. Who

I don't understand your point. If creating understanding is the point, why don't we test for understanding having been created but instead test for "bullshit activities" being successfully performed? In your weight lifti

So the reason is to create a weekly artificial deadline to increase productivity and motivation? Additionally the increased pain of any problems that might arise will incentivize creating procedures that avoid problems. Not sure if creating

I can now go and incorporate this detector into the retraining pipeline for my evil language model or put it at the end of my architecture to emit only human-like results (as labeled by the detector). I don't see how detectors can win

You also transform a good percentage of your high performers into low performers (until they leave and high perform somewhere else). I've seen it happen every time.

I've also seen it being used to refer to aliens. What's wrong with letting people choose their pronouns?

It adds 100% of what I would point out in code reviews to be removed from the commit message. It incentivizes an anti-pattern, so yes it's horrible.

The public API is still there and not going anywhere. Twitter is getting the worst of both worlds.

This is horrible. Commit messages should contain the reason why this change has been made and not imprecise prose summaries of what the diff looks like.

A large percentage of all companies work that way. Tool sharpening shops next to a big steel factory. Windows cleanup/uninstall tools. Car dealerships. Restaurant franchises.

I think this is different in consumer and corporate markets. The tradeoff to expose a business to legal liability and security problems is not a good one for most businesses while it's usually acceptable (or isn't realized by) man
