Sometimes you just need to look outside the window and see what's going on. A a lot of successful businesses started out completely different from what they are now. They probably did observe others.

Building your app on your on API or at least having your API always on your mind while planning your app is not a bad idea. It will definitely help you to get a well structured app. Might be difficult to squeeze it into you app afterwards.

1. I think your app is awesome 2. A browser window around your screenshot would make it easier to get (I started clicking on it ;-) 3. Drag and drop would make rearanging easier
