Synthetic primary keys like a unique integer ID assigned to a row are worse in theory - the id column isn't real data. They exist as a very common practical compromise for good reasons, but you should be aware you're compromising

Are you aware of how statements like these look to those on the outside of whatever particular good old boys club it is you're referencing here?

Can you explain what your tool does to someone who knows what an interactive rebase is? I don't get much more from your blurb than "we reimplemented interactive rebase for some reason", but I'm sure you do something diff

if the commit name is more readily at hand, just name the commit "fixup! whatever". --fixup just does this for you since references are shorter and easier to type (it doesn't have to be a hash, it can be --fixup HEAD~2 or som

I really prefer light, but light theme makers always make them painfully low-contrast (I'm not 16 years old anymore, I can't read that) and, less importantly, have this horrible habit of making comments appear "greyed out&quo

That is not something Github is doing, it's fundamental to how git works that different commits have different hashes - and rebasing creates different commits (they have different parents). Not rebase-merging would probably suit your w

Well, you can't get a job with skill. You see a lot of women in e.g. university math departments, where jobs still aren't really skill-based, but are a lot closer to being that. In tech, where jobs are based on how similar you are

It wouldn't really make much of a difference, if any. For source files, anyway - more complicated diffing helps for files we consider just "binary" now but that are actually structured. Pijul's pushouts are unrelated - t

Patch theory VCSes are, IMO, very much not the future of VCS, but they're an important research project, and the future will have learned from them. Git is definitely the present of VCS, even if it was adopted for all the wrong reasons
