Strange to see these ideas on a site called “Hacker News” given the “hacker ethic” is to make information available to all: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker_ethic

Not to mention bot farms. The most-viewed source of “misinformation” in the linked 2020 report simply… doesn’t exist anymore. Have we just been hearing about crappy sites buying views these past few years?

Honestly it’s been great they stepped up patrols this year. A fair number of female friends had been staying off the subway because they didn’t feel safe. My girlfriend witnessed a violent robbery just outside our station last night. I thin

Maybe it could be opt-in. Elect to pay a little bit extra in taxes. Then you get to go to the government home. I’d fully support that. In reality, people don’t really care much about very elderly people. Not even their own families most of

I don’t really see what’s not okay? My credit card company doesn’t send me offers from other companies alongside theirs, even though the networks are a duopoly. When I pull up to McDonald’s they don’t ask me if I’d like to order sides from

I just don’t see how selling snake oil made my neighborhood safer. Like I don’t see how those two things are connected at all other than through motivated reasoning. Not to mention anybody can still walk into my local Walgreens at 4 A.M. wi

Definitely playing with fire. Inflation works in practice because people are intrinsically happier when they have more money. And we discovered in 1971 that “the printing press is inexhaustible.” Maybe shifting attention to producers is the

Anecdotally it’s still fine at enterprise-y stuff (e.g. corporate law), worse at day-to-day stuff and history, and way worse at medical stuff. Honestly with the amount of scolding it does I don’t think it’s that healthy for kids.

I’m perfectly fine with tougher laws against organized retail crime. Seems like a loophole that should be closed now that anybody can fence in bulk using services like Amazon FBA.
