I get your point but I think sending the right signals to the market about carbon use is more important. If we need to tax the rich more we tax the rich more. If we can’t control global warming poor people have much worse things than taxes

I didn't want to extend his comment to saying more than it was, or debate his beliefs on what good news is. That's an ethical debate and is always situational on what the news is about, who's watching the news, and when they

True. But I'd never pay for ad-free Youtube. Gladly already paying for Spotify.

Really? They might be able to legitimately compete with Youtube. I watch a lot of podcast clips on Youtube but would much rather view it ad-free on Spotify.

Nah not snarky. The difference is mostly that Facebook is a company creating restrictions for speech on their platform based on the views of employees and shareholders of the company on what speech should be acceptable on their platform. R

You can't save people from their own stupidity. I'd rather have stupid thoughts said out loud so they can be analyzed and detected rather than repressed inside ones own mind. I think that the non-sense that a lot of people are p

Jeff Bezos is not Amazon. Amazon wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't relentlessly competitive. Workers are not risking their lives for peanuts. They're paid a competitive wage for people that have their skill set. There are

I completely agree. Just management also has to do their job rationally. Everyone should be negotiating.

I think what you're asking is more unfair. Amazon should do what's good for the most amount of people which is keeping prices down. There are plenty of people willing to take these jobs, we have record unemployment. Raising wage

You're just thinking about one edge case. Any child is born into a hierarchy if they have a guardian of any sort. If you want to learn from a teacher you have to enter into a student teacher hierarchy. Any engagement with other huma

Your example shows a very particular shortcoming in the unix command line programs. The mv command doesn't play nice with spaces in file names. I think python is a fine solution for your use case and wouldn't recommend against y

Awk and sed are generally superior for simple data transformations than python. Like cutting off specific lines, columns or replacing characters in files. They have pretty great performance in large files. Once things get complicated though

There's nothing a single individual can do to stop global warming. We need radical technological innovation to get out of this mess. Everyone needs to be encouraged to participate. Dividing ourselves into good and bad group over diet
