I hope that the conversation about this turns into a discussion about the business model of Facebook and most other social media sites that are designed around maximizing engagement for advertising revenue. I realize the difference between

My problem with the word 'burnout' is that it denotes some kind of final state. I'm sure I've had periods of burnout but it doesn't last more than a day or two. I had a third kid 4 months ago and my company is tran

After some thought, the reason JSON is different is due to how XML schemas include types and if you are converting the OO classes to an XML schema, you are basically injecting inheritance/composition into the actual API call. That doe

Summer camp has worked really well for us this year. The 6 y/o comes home absolutely filthy with knowledge of ground bees.

That is a fair point but, anecdotally, I have run into this problem more often with XML APIs than with JSON.

In my experience, schemas get crazy because people convert their internal OO data structures directly into XML schemas instead of designing a proper API.

There are a lot of great things about XML but I think it started falling out of favor when developers (primarily Java) started converting their internal OOP data structures into XML schemas and used that for all inter-service communication.

Funny item in his wikipedia entry that Schobert was offended when Mozart's dad said his kids could play his music with ease.

The source that this article cites is stundin.is. That article does not have any links or citations for what it's saying. It just refers to 'court documents'. It also cites other evidence obtained by stundin directly, but

To prove your point, I was also downvoted for my non-confrontational, accurate and benign comment. I guess people don't like that interviews are intended to evaluate ones' potential at a particular job.

I'm surprised to see you get some downvotes for your comment. That's what the interview process is for - to determine one's skillset. You can definitely tell if someone has solid hands-on experience in an interview.

Some kind of message bus implementation (RabbitMQ etc...) should be a must-have even in an on-premise environment. Queues are a very useful tool in almost every conceivable non-trivial software application.
