Congrats guys! I had played around with this 6 months ago. Looking forward to seeing what you guys build.

That is why I said write a brief answer to the question and then put the full detail in the blog post. After 6 months you will be up at the top for searches of that keyword and StackOverflow can do what they want.

I would learn all of them a little and just pick the one you enjoy the most. I did the same thing and included Scala and Clojure. In the end I pick Elixir and Erlang but I think you can pick the one you enjoy most.

Seems like it would be much better to move the content to a blog post then. The thing with sites like StackOverflow, Facebook, and Youtube is they can change and you have little to no control over it. If you write a blog post on it and then

The security measures are not there to secure you from seeing the requests, they are there to stop people using the app getting hacked with man in the middle attacks, no? I think they know they need to also make sure their API is secure as

It is nice to see people from the tools we use daily watch Hacker News and actually listen to what we talk about. Thank you and I will be using you guys for my first book on Functional Programming soon!

It's a tool to make over engineering every project even easier! All joking aside it is a good tool for some teams to make sure the same exact code is running in production that was tested. I don't think it is for everyone and can

Do you guys think row-level security will eventually replace the crazy logic we have to add to our systems normally to allow for this? I can think of many places this might help a bunch if combined with SET SESSION AUTHORIZATION command.

I think Elixir/Erlang is a good tradeoff on both, would you guys agree? http://blog.plataformatec.com.br/2015/06/elixir-in-times-of-...

1. Readability is probably the biggest reason. I don't have to worry that some base object changing what I am thinking is happening. There is little magic and it is easy to follow. 2. Let it fail, elixir and erlang you have to write co

I willing to bet once the spec is out there will be a Elixir implementation of GraphQL. I am also willing to bet Elixir would still be faster then Node.js, Ruby, or Python for that.

Have you built any really big data projects with RethinkDB or just demo apps? There are some big advantages to having query planners and optimizers in the database. Also in SQL you can be explicit. You can tell it what index to use.

I guess it really depends on what ADP's terms of service say. It is their site and service. Clients can choose to stop using them. The Zenefits teams seems very immature, maybe they should pivot and start offering more full services.

I think Rest works best in dynamically typed languages as it can be a little less strict on format. I think in typed languages RPC could work out better as you can filter out bad requests quicker with a stricter format. I also think RPC ten

You are correct. In me learning Elixir I have taken the patterns and write very different Javascript, php, and C# because of it. Every language I learn I learn new approaches to coding in all the languages I already know.
