A huge basket of stable currencies, government bonds, commodities, real estate. It seems like it should be possible to create something so diverse that even black swan events have minimal impact.

How does taxing “housing units unoccupied for more than six months” change this at all? These aren’t units that are up for sale. These are empty units not for rent or sale

Fairly empty article. The validation vs test set has a lot you can talk about - for instance what do you do if you’re happy with the validation results, but then unhappy with the test set results, to avoid “contamination” (overfitting hyper

What is the conclusion/take away here? Not sure what the call to action here is. Purely “ecologically”, I’m pretty sure staying home and binging YouTube is better for the environment than ordering a book online or even a short drive to

It’s dumber than that. The chrome extension requires *.facebook.com host permission. It can literally do whatever it wants - add friends, delete your profile, etc. You could write this same article about gmail, twitter, etc, any site in the

It’s not a business critique at all; it’s just always a little sad to see awesome tools built that only work for the dominant player in the space. Just another few inches in the moat which makes it harder for an new startup to compete. It m

You are not the target market. I volunteered teaching computer skills in a “low income school district”. They had a laptop cart on wheels, with cheap, aging laptops that took multiple minutes to boot up + log in + become useable. And you ha

Taxes should provide the reason to rein in fugitive emissions. If the negative externalities were properly priced in, they would already be reducing the methane pollution. I’m pretty skeptical they are “creating value” - at this point incr

The argument “more sensor data = worse” is a pretty hard one to make, especially in the AI world. If it were the case radar is bad at detecting stopped objects at high speed and vision is better there, wouldn’t the model learn this? Yes, hu

A 12 word mnemonic phrase is worlds easier to use than that. You will download an OCR program, send the photo from your phone to the computer, and run OCR on it? Or you will upload your cold key onto google drive?

I don’t get it. Why should the airline care if you actually fly the plane or not? Every 6 months auction off all the slots. Then use the slot however you want. If you want to retain the slot, you have to pay higher than the other bidders.
