This is pretty nifty! Do you have any desire to add AI? I could almost write a generic AI for your current version; the two things that are missing are a way to enumerate the possible moves (the ability to pass extra arguments to a move cau

SC:R's art direction was "It should be like putting your glasses on."[1] It's about as conservative an art direction as can be had short of changing nothing. [1] https://starcraft.com/en-us/articles&

Stating opinions like facts, the standard units should be: 1) Arcminutes at typical view distance. The sun is 32 arcminutes and a css pixel is 1.278 arcminutes. This is the primary unit for measuring content. 2) Percent. This is the primary

If I did all my math/googling right, one acre of managed forest can produce about thirty square meters of the 20-inch-thick panels mentioned in the article per year. (A typical wood weighing 0.4 tons per square meter and a managed fore

It makes a much better sci-fi story if the future is an extrapolation of the present. We're not in this moment collapsing into a theocracy so torturing a brain in a jar isn't so punchy. Instead, imagine that a company pays for you

Yes, but tree search + neural net is still pretty generic. It only assumes that you can enumerate branches.

That resulting color space isn't perceptually uniform anymore. LCH is a hue-based version of LAB, which is perceptually uniform (when changing one dimension at a time) and easy to read, but unfortunately the gamut of what's displa

Pixel art has a ton of advantages: * It's cheap. It takes as much talent to make great pixel art as anything, but it takes less time to do than most styles. Some cartoon vector styles or voxel styles could compete here. * Passable pixe

It's been years since I last tried, but I remember vector graphics being much harder to import. Not only do you have to bring in considerations more familiar to 3D like consistent units and origin points, but it's also just not su

I agree that typography could be an exact science, but I think starting with mathematics would be the wrong choice. Rather, it would be better to devise perceptual experiments and back fit a mathematical model to the results. The excellent

You can buy containers that are new, one trip, or well-worn. Usually the one trip containers are significantly cheaper than new, and well-worn are somewhat cheaper than that. But it varies, and I've occasionally seen new ones be cheape

I've been working on GPS filtering for three years and that's bad even by my standards. Chips with L5 should do a lot to clear that up though.

It's pretty much raw GPS if you're in walking or biking mode. Driving mode uses sophisticated filtering algorithms, and doesn't actually make any assumptions about your speed, though it does assume you're on a road.
