SD cards are less than optimal in Pis for general computing usage, but you could put something like iPXE on the card. That's how I'd work around the issue originally described in this thread. https://en.m.wikipedia.or

I want to like NewPipe but I've always had problems with resuming videos after pausing them in the background. Most of the time my progress is just completely lost. Also, full screen and popover mode have been broken since Android 12.

As of now that increases the size, complexity, and cost of the implementation. A dumb RFID chip that returns an ID is a lot simpler and smaller package size than one that handles crypto.

These are conveniences. Yes, backup cameras have been mandated for ~7 years now in the US. One can surely still drive safely without looking at a screen.
