As a user land Node developer I’ve had tons of problems with GYP and packages I install trying to use it. It absolutely leaks into the developer experience.

You’re completely misinterpreting the mask situation. Of course they say there’s no evidence that a mask will protect YOU. Masks aren’t supposed to protect YOU. They prevent YOU transmitting the virus to OTHERS. So of course it doesn’t redu

Yeah the big problems with Dialyzer are that it can be slow at times and that the error messages are not great. However, a lot of the error messages are the same esoteric messages, and you can get used to debugging them when you know what t

It depends on what you are struggling with. If you want formal type documentation and some decent type checking, Dialyzer is pretty good. That’s really the only solution for Elixir. If you want full static type checking, there is https:&#x

For most people, the standout change here will be the addition of `config/runtime.exs`, which is SUPER exciting! Before, runtime configuration was only available in “releases”, which is Elixir’s packaged tarball for deployments. All ot

Can you explain what you mean about module naming? I’ve done a good amount of Elixir, and I’m puzzled because I don’t know what you are referring to at all. Most libraries and frameworks I’ve used enforce things on your modules via behavior

Generally it's because Coc has completion, snippets, and pretty much everything from the regular VSCode version of the extension built-in, so Coc can replace multiple plugins, and it works very well.

I'm also not personally a fan of the model that Coc takes (although it is impressive tech). Besides adding a Node dependency, Coc extensions are basically ported VSCode extensions with some changes necessary to make them work with Coc.

It’s not likely that any university is going to teach masters classes in JavaScript, that’s for sure. So you’d have to use a different language than JS anyway. Advanced topics you would learn like ML, computer vision, distributed systems, b

I agree. Having used reactive Java and the Elixir/OTP model of message passing, I can safely say that I'd never go back to reactive Java unless I was forced to. It feels like you are fighting the language the whole time.

One very cool feature of Zig is that it supports calling async/await from any function [1], not just async functions, which avoids the famous function coloring problem altogether. [1] https://ziglang.org/#Concurrency-vi
