Seattle is closer to Hawaii. I've found Seattle to have acceptable sun by spending a few weeks out of the year vacationing to Hawaii or California. Summer in Seattle is so much better than Summer in Texas; it's the rainy winter that you h

I moved from the Dallas area to the Seattle area and I've had AC everywhere I've lived (except the first place). Sure I've had to install it in one case, but it's not that expensive compared to the benefit if you're used to AC. Also, I thi

I am generally in favor of transparency. In this case I am definitely in favor of more high level transparency about wages. But when it gets to the specific data about one person and their coworkers it gets more difficult due to various c

I'm in a very similar situation. Finding the right company (or starting your own) seems to be the key to happiness. Don't write off the entire industry because of bad companies.

Also without seeing more of the detail of the analysis there are perfectly reasonable cases for this, e.g. A company with 1 employee (the CEO) has a profit of $1,000,000. This company pays corporate income tax on the profits. The next year

"most of programming isn't great. It's nasty, it's boring..." I get what you are saying, but I don't agree. When I am working on code that I know a bunch of people will use and enjoy, I don't really find the edge cases or testing nasty or b
