Looks like a stock price of $31.50 would give facebook a P/E ratio of around 60. For comparison, GOOG is 18.5 and AAPL is 14. More financials are available from the updated S-1: http://sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1326801/00011931251220819.

The money quote from that article: "The patents system is being used to slow down a lot of healthy competition and that's a real problem. I think that the countries that have essentially figured that out and put hard limits on what you can

On top of that, this is a decision by a magistrate, which is one step below a District Court judge, so it can be appealed to the District Court, then to an Appeals Court, then the Supreme Court. A magistrate's opinion, unfortunately, has no

Almost all my traffic goes over a VPN these days. I don't do any file sharing, but I just don't want my ISP keeping tabs on me. (Yes, yes, I know, a VPN ISP can keep track too) It's so easy (and cheap) to set up a VPN or SSH tunnel with you

The local "OCCUPY" movement in my city has a facebook page that is essentially a marxist propaganda front. What a joke. It's mostly old-time hippies and younger entitled hipsters.

Good for Apple. They're doing what any rational person or company should do - move business to where taxes are lowest. States like California and Illinois are doing their best to drive out business (and jobs).

You're right, typical "cut and paste" journalism. Useless article. I cut the cable over a year ago and I don't regret it at all. I now have $48 for DSL, Hulu plus, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, and I'm paying much less than I was for cable and

I agree. I think the reserve-currency status of the US places it in a position where inflating out of debt will be less devastating than in other parts of the world.

The article's title tells me that the author doesn't understand what's going on. "Why austerity is destroying Europe." How about the reality of the situation -- overspending and borrowing have destroyed europe. Iceland seems to have fixed t

News flash: no one cares where your undergrad degree is from. The only exception is... maybe... if you want to move on and get a PhD eventually, but even then, once you get a master's and then PhD, your undergrad is almost entirely meaningl

Ctl-A, Ctl-C, open notepad, Ctl-V, Ctl-A, Ctl-C How you have all your text sans any Word formatting. Horribly difficult, I know. This article's author is just annoyingly ignorant.

I don't know why an application couldn't also attack other hashing algorithms. It's just about brute force creating lots of hashes. This app also uses GPUs to brute force TrueCrypt: http://www.golubev.com/igprs/

The original copyright act in the US granted protection for 14 years with an option for 14 year renewal. I think society would be much better served if we went back to that.

What about memory usage with MySql? I've found that to be a significant bottleneck with wordpress sites. A basic wordpress installation doesn't use the database much, but if you add just a few plugins, things start to jump pretty quickly.
