Nothing has inherent value. All value is relative. The difference between fiat (paper) currencies and currencies that are composed of a physical good, like gold, is solely the ability to control quantity. Fiat currency can be (and often is)

Many people think that limiting "competition" and forcing people to use their preferred method of public transit is a legitimate public policy goal. The intent is not to provide efficient transit that works well for those who need it, the

Public transit, even in the densest of American cities, is a money loser and often pollutes more than if the riders were taking cars. It's badly in need of innovation and revolution. Fixed-route transit is a mess. That's why I can't wait

It's a bit of a tradeoff. If the FAA fails at some regulatory function, you can't sue the government. If Boeing fails, at least you can sue them.

End the government-mandated monopoly on mail -- let the market take care of the issue. Probably 50% of the mail I get is stuff I don't even want in the first place. In fact, it's a criminal act to deliver mail without paying the USPS: http

I did the same. I spent 3 years at a local CC and then one year at a state university to get my BS. Total cost was about $9k. I worked while I went to school and have no student loans. EDIT: I should also add that I didn't do so well during

My IT shop tried working from home for a couple of years and the team fragmented, we lost a sense of teamwork, and we started wondering what each other are doing. A new CIO mandated working from the office and it has made for a much better

A friend who has risen to the top of his area of expertise in the world, and who does it on the side, recently told me, "there's nothing like doing what you love and not having to rely on it for a pay check."

I genuinely wonder how much of these sorts of behavior problems can be traced to external factors such as too much sugar in the diet, lack of exercise, and the over-stimulation (or under, depending how you look at it) of watching hours and
