While it might seem like things are shifting back towards static typing, I think that is primarily happening in the development of technology now but not the use of that technology yet. I think these predictions will probably appear to be t

singlequotes for strings is very much a standard thing in JS. And two space indentation is fairly common as well. The no semicolons and space after function name are really the weird things here.

spoiler alert I wouldn't say this necessarily points to the "main" character, as its just one measure of a character's significance. Littlefinger (Petyr on this diagram) is rather small and on the edge - but he's

I have a hard time thinking of people making 6 figure salaries as being an instance of capital exploiting labor. Part of why the average length of employment is only around a year is probably that employees are choosing to go elsewhere for

There's a lot of comments related to the legality of this and whether or not it violates either the GPL or at least the Linux trademark. Even if it wasn't technically legal, I don't think the right parties have anything to ga

I don't think they can do it with Generics because of an architectural problem. And while var is probably the best approach to having type inference, I don't even think that's a particularly important feature if you're c

I'd have to disagree with code quality in regards to PHP. While the way it's traditionally done can have code quality problems, that isn't something which is inherent in the language. I've had great results working with

The issue is that politicians also need to appease their donors, which is why they just generally protect the elites. But that doesn't make what Dotcom did any less criminal. In my opinion, they're two entirely separate issues. An

Crime which costs U.S. companies directly leads to a variety of issues. But basically, it means America has less wealth, and the government has less tax revenue. It makes plenty of sense for them to enforce copyright laws. It's a net p

It actually uses the MacRuby stuff to compile to native. But the compiler can't optimize nearly as well as it can for statically typed languages, so there's a pretty significant performance hit on the ruby code itself, though once

Not all microkernels. There are many newer ones which have much better performance characteristics of their predecessors. Mach, however, has rather slow IPC, which would be a problem for Hurd.

Some components are open source. So as long as you don't need the Interface Builder or Eclipse/IntelliJ support, it'll still be free. They did raise prices though.

And they've already raised the prices. Edit: Actually, they've just changed their "startup" pricing and it isn't publicly available anymore. It might actually be better, if they allow you to have more than 3 devs.

The solution is simple: websites just need to start detecting adblock and refusing let someone use the site with it enabled. If you don't like it...go pay for an ad free service. Nobody deserves to get something for nothing. Edit: Addi
