I agree with you, but what about copyrightable? I don't think that "swipe gestures with 3 fingers in a diagonal motion" should be patentable. But I don't think blatant ripoffs of entire applications should be protected o

I think the problem with not being opinionated is that 3rd party libraries have nothing they can rely on. Do you write 3 sets of templates for the 3 most popular templating libraries? Do you provide models for SQLAlchemy AND Django? Or do y

I think the most important difference between Alchemy and Django is the separation between the SQL abstraction layer and the ORM. There is no separation with django, making it very difficult to really get in there and make changes. But I do

I haven't actually used SQLAlchemy, but I know it has a lot of features that would be extremely useful for django. I really like how it separates out the Core and ORM components. I prefer djangos syntax for composing queries and defini

What do you not like about the ORM? It's one of my favourite pieces of django.

There were two separate occasions where I tried to book an Uber driver for a short fare and no drivers accepted. Perhaps both situations were just a lack of drivers and I incorrectly assumed it was the short fare.

We have several companies operating in Melbourne and they are all awful. We don't have any (decent) requirements as far as road knowledge goes. I've also been to London, and the experience with cabs there was wonderful. The requir

This is the first thing that jumped out at me. Taxi drivers in London are brilliant. Try using a Taxi in Melbourne. Most of the drivers don't know the most basic of knowledge. Main roads in the city? No idea. The casino? "Could yo

I'll bite. What should we be using instead of `if [ $? -ne 0 ]`? Because that's pretty standard in my (admittedly very basic) bash.

That's about as good as scrolling to the bottom of ExpertsExchange (what a terrible name). I refuse to sign in to read some Q/A. Quora is on my black list just as much as the EE.

Hangouts are really annoying for persistent rooms that others can join and leave at will. We found we had lots of different combinations of people in different hangouts, and the conversations were really fragmented. We use hangouts for grou

We were using hangouts and google chat exclusively until we finally made the jump to HipChat. We still use hangouts for group video (morning scrum mostly), and hipchat for everything else. Group video in hipchat would be a killer feature.

I was concerned too and sent an email to the HipChat team. They responded nearly immediately and updated the original HN post. To be able to see "private" communications, the manager would have to send an email to hipchat to reque

So the extension page mentions requiring a github token to work with private repositories, but I'm not sure where you'd configure the extension.

Bookmarks are a mess? I was just thinking how crazy it is that people need to outsource bookmark management to a third party.

I'm truly sick of hearing that the phone is the only device that matters. I use my phone very, very sparingly, and only when I'm away from my laptop. A phone isn't the nicest device for consuming the web, and I doubt it'

Can someone explain to me - are containers based on a base OS, or are they capable of running on any OS? I see the 'run anywhere' taglines and it just doesn't make sense to me. I imagine that docker containers have to be prov

I read that part as the approval process required X changes that the OpenSSL team had to implement themselves. I don't believe the approving party was asking the OpenSSL team to commit code they were supplying.
