I guess you don't actually need to ground it. The Earth end of it could hover above the ground or it could be attached to some insulator.

Agreed. I don't think the language is right for newbies: "What is computing with Unix? Unix is a family of operating systems and environments that exploits the power of linguistic abstraction and composition to orchestrate tasks." That isn'

There are many more people who are employed and thinking about starting their own business than have actually started their own business. Creating your own business: +1 job. Freeing up a position at your previous employment: +1 job. 1 + 1 =

Most people might want that but this legislation isn't aimed at most people. It's for the segment of society that do want their own business.

Surely some organization at some point is going to have to start paying licencing deals for using Microsoft products which violate some other organization's patents (I'm looking at you Google).

I've often regarded this as one of the main cultural differences between Americans and Britons (with Gabriel being more like a Brit in this particular generali[z|s]ation). And my conclusion is that this phenomenon cuts both ways. There are

Exactly. Is this not very similar to the program that was recently cancelled? Reading this actually made me quite angry, and I'm someone who is a fan of new technology, especially new space technology. What new ground is being covered here?

Thanks for the reply. Just while you're here, I was wondering if I could ask another question. Am I right in thinking that they used the HIV virus to 'program' the white blood cells? And if so, in the future might it be possible to reprogra

Would there be any basis to suing the USPTO? If it could be shown that their incompetence/negligence led to an organization suffering loss due to an patently invalid patent? (pun not intended but acknowledged).
